Cortec recently introduced a new environmentally friendly lubricating and rust-preventative grease specifically formulated to meet the demands of food and meat processing plants.

The EcoLine Food Machinery Lubricating Grease is a bio-based, corrosion-inhibiting lubricant formulated with renewable, American-grown natural seed oil. Containing 92-percent bio-based content, the food-grade grease reduces friction and wear and has a high flash point for increased safety.

The grease offers corrosion protection for ferrous and colored metals, while its biodegradable formula reduces damage to the environment. Among the metals the grease is designed to protect include carbon steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum and copper.

The product conforms to U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) H-2 criteria, U.S. Food and Drug Administration (USFDA) regulations and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's Environmentally Preferable Purchasing (EPP) criteria, as well as most manufacturers' specifications.

The combination of FDA-approved corrosion inhibitors and the specially formulated aluminum-based thickener enables superior protection and lubricity to promote longer equipment life. In addition to lubricating and self-healing properties, the biodegradable grease also provides contact and vapor-phase corrosion protection.

Recommended for both operating and mothballed equipment, the grease can be applied by brush, roll or standard grease guns.
