ICML Gears Up For "lean, Reliable and Lubed 2007"

Suzy Jamieson, ICML

In May 2007, the International Council for Machinery Lubrication (ICML) will participate in Noria's "Lean, Reliable, and Lubed" Conference and Exhibition in Louisville, Kentucky. As in previous years, ICML has an impressive agenda planned for the week. ICML will hold certification exam sessions, host a booth in the exhibit hall, present its awards and conduct its annual meetings during the week of May 14th through 18th.

Test Your Knowledge
ICML will offer two separate certification exam sessions for conference attendees to become certified. Candidates can choose to take the exam just before the conference on Monday, May 14th, from 6 to 9 p.m. or during the second exam session Wednesday, May 16th, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. All ICML certification types will be offered, including Machine Lubricant Analyst Level I and II (MLA I and II), Laboratory Lubricant Analyst Level I (LLA I) and Machinery Lubrication Technician Level I (MLT I). ICML hopes to also offer the Machinery Lubrication Technician Level II (MLT II) exam during these exam sessions in Louisville. Exams can be taken in any of ICML's six languages (English, Spanish, Portuguese, Korean, Japanese and Chinese), but it is necessary to contact ICML in advance to arrange for non-English exams.

And the Winner Is …
ICML plans to present its Augustus H. Gill and John R. Battle awards during the conference. The Gill award was designed to recognize organizations that have exhibited excellence in the application of used oil analysis in machine and lubricant condition monitoring. With it, ICML hopes to identify role models for benchmarking and setting performance standards by the oil analysis community.

Its counterpart, the John R. Battle award, recognizes organizations that have exhibited excellence in the application of machinery lubrication and was designed to motivate companies to improve machine reliability and maintenance quality through development, implementation and management of a best-in-class machinery lubrication program.

Both awards are open to companies worldwide, independent of any involvement in the Council; in other words, a company does not need to be a member of ICML to apply. ICML does not charge any fees to applicant companies and it does not nominate companies for the awards. Companies must apply for the awards directly. Vendors and other industry practitioners may nominate a company, then ICML will contact that company to verify its interest in applying for one of the awards. More information on the ICML awards program, including the criteria for each award, can be found at www.lubecouncil.org

On Exhibit
ICML will also be exhibiting during "Lean, Lubed and Reliable 2007". Hosting a booth at the conference every year has given ICML the opportunity to network with industry practitioners from around the world, giving ICML a chance to tell its success story and make industry aware of the developments of the Council. Because of the demographics of the conference, face-to-face contact with lubrication practitioners and management alike happens not only during the exhibit hours but also in networking opportunities. Meeting fellow exhibitors also helps ICML divulge its mission and therefore, gain support and cooperation for its activities from consultants and industry vendors in general, who see the value to their customers of what ICML is working to achieve for industry. If you are attending the conference and want to learn more about ICML, make sure to stop by the booth for a visit.

Council Meetings
As with previous years, ICML will conduct its board and committee meetings in conjunction with the conference. The Lean, Lubed and Reliable Conference and Exhibition has become an important event to many practitioners in our industry. Lubrication and analysis professionals from all over the world congregate at the conference each year. Scheduling its meetings during the conference allows ICML to take advantage of this gathering of practitioners, making it easier for several of our volunteers to part in our meetings. Attendance at the conference is not a requirement for participation in the ICML meetings. If you would like to become involved in ICML or would like more information on volunteering opportunities or ICML activities, please e-mail info@lubecouncil.org

See you at the conference in Louisville!
