ICML Offers First Exam in Dubai

Suzy Jamieson, ICML

Celebrating 10 years of serving the lubrication industry worldwide, the International Council for Machinery Lubrication (ICML) is enjoying a special year in 2011. ICML now stands at more than 6,800 individuals certified from more than 1,500 companies over 75 countries with tests in eight different languages and growing.

On May 26, 2011, ICML held its first exam session in Dubai, UAE. Much in the same manner as its first exam in the United States back in January 2001, a small pioneering group gathered to pursue ICML certification following a course of training that covered the subject areas of the MLA I exam.

At ICML's first exam session in Dubai, all of the candidates who took the MLA I exam after the training achieved certification.

The exam session was sponsored by KEW Engineering of the UK in partnership with Al Bedaya Consultancy and Marine Survey LLC. The training was conducted by Martin Williamson of KEW. The results were exceptional, as all of the candidates who took the MLA I exam after the training achieved certification. ICML congratulates them on their MLA I status and wishes them much success in their pursuit of further knowledge and higher certification levels. It is encouraging to see this group setting off in the Middle East as ICML-certified professionals, aiding their organizations in achieving world-class lubrication and oil analysis programs.

Congratulations to Khaled Aly Matar of Al Bedaya Consultancy and Marine Survey LLC, Mohamed Yousef of Emirates Aluminium, Rabi M. Hakeem of Saudi Aramco, Sandeep Banerji of Shell Markets Middle East and Shajeev Puthalath of Dubai Aluminum Co. Ltd.

ICML would also like to congratulate Syed Sadath Hussain of EMA Lubricants Co., who had already met exam requirements and joined the group to take the MLT I exam. He is now MLT I certified.

ICML continues to fulfill its mission of dignifying the professions of machinery lubrication technicians and oil analysts by bringing the ICML exam to qualified candidates across the globe. It is very rewarding to watch the positive changes happening in industry during the 10 years of ICML’s operation. It is also gratifying to hear the stories of personal impact and growth, with improvement not only to the overall reliability for the companies choosing to certify their employees with ICML, but also to the careers and lives of industrial lubrication practitioners worldwide. We are humbled by their sharing and look forward to the future ahead of us.

ICML also will be offering exams in the Dominican Republic this year, starting with the first exam session scheduled for July, and in Ghana in the near future. ICML will continue to translate its exams into other foreign languages as needed.

If you are an industrial lubrication or oil analysis practitioner in a country where ICML has not yet offered its exam and have an interest in attempting to achieve ICML certification, please contact info@lubecouncil.org and ICML will be glad to coordinate a local session for you in your country of residence.
