Spectronics Forms Partnership with Quaker Chemical

Noria news wires

Spectronics Corp. recently announced a strategic supply/market development agreement with Quaker Chemical Corp. to support Quaker's soon-to-be announced lines of fire-resistant hydraulic fluids incorporating FluidSafe, Spectronics' fluorescent safety additive.

Spectronics and Quaker Chemical have already been supplying longwall fluids with FluidSafe to the Australian market, and the new agreement expands this effort globally.

In line with this partnership, Spectronics will be amalgamating its Alerton International subsidiary with the parent company and moving the FluidSafe product line under its Spectroline brand.

"We are excited to have FluidSafe integrated into Quaker Chemical's offerings to improve safety," says Jon Cooper, president of Spectronics. "This exemplifies Quaker's commitment and proactive approach to protect workers against onsite injuries and improve equipment reliability while building on the integrity of its product line."

FluidSafe is a patented fluorescent dye that is added to hydraulic fluids (fire resistant as well as mineral oil) to improve system safety and reliability. It is uniquely formulated to aid in the quick and effective detection and surgical removal of hydraulic fluid in the event of an accidental high-pressure fluid injection under the skin.

The incorporation of FluidSafe into Quaker's Quintolubric product line allows users of its fire-resistant fluids in the mining, steel-making and automotive industries to capture the safety, reliability and cost-saving benefits of FluidSafe without any extra onsite handling.

"The addition of FluidSafe to our Quintolubric longwall fluids reinforces our commitment to improving worker safety in the mining industry," stated Kevin Dickey, Quaker's global business development manager for mining. "This revolutionary product remains visible in the tissue for at least 24 hours, assisting medical professionals' ability to help wounded workers recover maximum functionality and continue their productive lives."

Spectronics is also working with Quaker Chemical to make FluidSafe available for use in its mineral oil-based hydraulic fluids.
