Amsoil Launches Reformulated Synthetic Motor Oil

Noria news wires

Amsoil recently launched a new formulation of its XL Synthetic Motor Oil to deliver more cleaning power and promote longer engine life for today's advanced automotive technology, including turbochargers and direct injection.

The new motor oil, which has been licensed by the American Petroleum Institute (API) to meet the requirements commonly found in owner's manuals, features an advanced detergent system to protect vital engine components, such as pistons and connecting rods. Along with 25 percent more cleaning power, the oil is formulated with friction modifiers to offer maximum fuel economy.

In engine tests required by the GM dexos1 Gen 2 specification, the XL Synthetic Motor Oil attained 100 percent protection against low-speed pre-ignition (LSPI). Other tests revealed that the motor oil was able to achieve 64 percent more protection against oil breakdown than required by the GM dexos1 Gen 2 specification.

The new synthetic oil is designed to maintain its fluidity (viscosity) under the most extreme conditions as well as provide protection between oil changes that lasts up to 12,000 miles or one year, whichever comes first. It is available in 0W-20, 5W-20, 5W-30, 10W-30 and 10W-40 viscosities.
