Unist Inc. recently introduced a new lubrication system designed to provide consistent lubricant application for the ultra-thin stock typically used in the packaging, container, and heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) industries.

The TSL System features controlled lubricant delivery to both sides of thin (.002- to .010-inch) stock and can accommodate stock widths from 9 to 45 inches. The TSL is capable of applying lubricant coatings as low as 25 milligrams per square foot and is ideal for applications where proper lubrication is critical.

Lubricant is applied through reversible felt application pads, while pneumatic cylinders maintain consistent contact with the material. Controlled lubricant delivery is achieved using a programmable fluid controller, which incorporates an easy-to-use interface as well as an access code to prevent unauthorized tampering or changes in fluid settings.

The system is designed for use with vanishing fluid or low viscosity oil but is not intended for use with water-soluble lubricants. System users have reported a reduction in lubricant usage of 40 to 50 percent along with the elimination of fluid mess.

The TSL System includes an applicator, a programmable fluid controller, control valves, a 20-gallon tank, integral stand, a heavy-duty filter, a pressure switch and flow sensors.
