Pennzoil recently introduced a new SAE 0W-16 synthetic motor oil to meet the needs of 2018 vehicle models and in response to the demand for increased fuel economy and reduced emissions.

The Platinum SAE 0W-16 Full Synthetic Motor Oil is made using PurePlus base oils for greater performance with respect to oxidation and deposit control, wear protection, and fuel economy. The motor oil is also formulated to provide enhanced viscosity control and reduced oil consumption in comparison to typical Group III base stocks.

The demand for 0W-16 grade motor oils has grown recently following the introduction of certain 2018 vehicle models sold in the United States, including the Toyota Camry, Honda Fit and Accord hybrid.

SAE 0W-16 oils, which have been in use in Japan for several years, can offer additional fuel economy benefits compared to SAE 0W-20, SAE 5W-20, SAE 5W-30 and other higher viscosity oils. As a result, some equipment manufacturers are now recommending the use of an SAE 0W-16 motor oil to optimize the efficiency of their engines.

Pennzoil initially plans to introduce the Platinum SAE 0W-16 Full Synthetic Motor Oil in bulk, drum and ecobox packaging, followed by 1-quart and 5-quart bottles.
