Cortec Unveils New Corrosion Inhibitor

Noria news wires

Cortec recently introduced a new oil-based additive package of ash-free corrosion inhibitors for petroleum or synthetic oil-based lubricants such as rust and oxidation preventatives, hydraulic fluids, lubricants for pulp and paper equipment, and industrial and automotive gear oils.

M-531 T is readily compatible and can be effective in naphthenic, paraffinic, isoparaffinic or polyalphaolefin (PAO) based lubricants. It is recommended for enhancing corrosion protection of industrial lubricant applications where filterability and water separability are required.

Ideal for use with turbines, hydraulic equipment and other industrial applications in operating, intermittent or lay-up conditions, M-531 T is soluble in petroleum and synthetic lubricant base stocks and most common solvents but insoluble in water. When added at the recommended concentrations, it does not affect water separability, pour point or viscosity and resists gelling when contaminated with water.

The additive package offers more than 15 days of corrosion protection and does not cause emulsification. It is available in 5-gallon (19-liter) plastic pails and 55-gallon (208-liter) metal drums.

Headquartered in St. Paul, Minn., Cortec manufactures more than 400 products featuring corrosion-control technologies for packaging, metalworking, construction, electronics, water treatment, oil and gas, and other industries.
