Chevron Oronite Launches New Additive Package

Noria news wires

Chevron Oronite recently introduced a new additive package for low-speed pre-ignition (LSPI) engine protection. OLOA 54720 is formulated to help address the need for an additive package that meets the new European Automobile Manufacturers’ Association (ACEA) C5-based segment.

"The ACEA C5 market is set for growth because the newest engines from European OEMs are designed to use this new fuel-saving oil," said Teri Crosby, Chevron Oronite’s global product manager for automotive engine oils. "Legislation that centers on CO2 and emissions is driving OEMs to actively use these oils as service fill. Each year, 3 percent to 5 percent of the total car fleet in Europe is replaced by SAE 0W-20 capable cars, and OLOA 54720 provides a solution to help meet those customers’ needs now and in the future."

The new additive package conforms with several key standards for SAE 0W-20, the American Petroleum Institute (API) and the International Lubricant Standardization and Approval Committee (ILSAC). The product is also compatible with after-treatment operation over its lifespan, including use in engines equipped with gasoline particulate filters.

"OLOA 54720 addresses the latest, most-demanding OEM requirements by delivering fuel-economy benefits, protecting against LSPI, and providing cleanliness and turbocharger protection," said Richard van den Bulk, Chevron Oronite’s global OEM and industry liaison for automotive engine oil.
