Klüber Introduces New Grease for Wind Turbine Applications

Noria news wires

Klüber Lubrication recently introduced a new cleaning grease for generator and main bearings in wind turbine applications. Klübersynth BZ 68-400 is specifically formulated to remove residue and optimize bearing grease changeovers.

Hardened residue in rolling bearings is a frequent cause of elevated bearing temperatures, which can then lead to additional maintenance activities.

"Until recently, residues had to be removed from rolling bearings manually, which caused a lot of extra work," said Thomas Wunder, sales development manager for wind energy at Klüber Lubrication. "Our newly developed Klübersynth BZ 68-400 is the first product enabling cleaning to be performed while the bearing is in operation."

During the development process, special care was taken to ensure the grease was compatible with other base oils for maximum versatility. Besides its cleaning effects, the grease offers protection against wear and corrosion. This also protects the rolling bearings during the cleaning process. In addition, the grease is designed to extend the service lives of rolling bearings and reduce maintenance and downtime.

Although primarily developed for applications in wind turbines, Klübersynth BZ 68-400 can also be used for cleaning rolling bearings in other industries as well.
