Selecting and Using Grease in Mining Agriculture and Construction

Whitepaper

The primary purpose of grease, as with most lubricants, is to reduce the friction between moving machine components, thus reducing the wear on the machine, but it also serves other purposes, including acting as a contamination barrier and as a vehicle for heat transference. When applied correctly and at the appropriate intervals, grease can increase machine performance and lifespan.

This Whitepaper Covers:

  • Why Grease Selection and Best Practices are Important
  • Understanding Your Application and Environment
  • Choosing a Grease Type
  • Heavy-duty Grease
  • Grease Best Practices and Regreasing Calculations
  • Other Considerations
    • Grease Dry-Out
    • Changing Grease Selection Seasonally (Based on Temperature)

Thank you to CITGO's Mystik Lubricants for sponsoring this education on heavy-duty grease.
