Noria news wires

Total recently announced that it has acquired Houghton International’s aluminum hot-rolling oil (AHRO), steel cold-rolling oil (SCRO) and tinplate rolling oil (TPRO) business in the North American and European markets. The transaction also includes the associated technical support services in both regions.

With the specially formulated range of hot- and cold-rolling oils, cleaners and accompanying fluid management services, Total will broaden its product portfolio to offer customers a fully integrated solution.

“We believe that this acquisition will create value both for Total and our customers from these industries,” said Philippe Charleux, senior vice president of lubricants and specialties at Total’s marketing and services division. “It will strengthen our position in the industrial lubricants market, which is an important part of our strategic vision for the future. Geographically, we are strengthening our strong presence in Europe and expanding our activities and market penetration in North America, especially the USA.”

A leading global manufacturer and marketer of engine oils and lubricants for the automotive, industrial and marine markets, Total currently has 41 production plants worldwide and more than 5,800 employees in 150 countries, including its headquarters in Paris, France.
