Tractian Sensor on Asset

Tractian has launched a new industrial sensor that combines high-resolution vibration analysis and continuous ultrasonic monitoring in a single, always-on device - designed to improve lubrication precision and reduce bearing-related failures.

Industry research consistently shows that up to 80% of premature bearing failures are linked to lubrication issues. Yet most lubrication programs still rely on periodic manual measurements or single-modality tools that can miss early-stage stress signals.

Sampling at up to 64 kHz, the system captures detailed ultrasonic and vibration data capable of identifying early-stage lubrication wear, friction, and developing bearing defects. By integrating both inputs into one sensor, reliability teams gain continuous visibility into asset condition rather than relying exclusively on periodic handheld measurements.

Vibration analysis and ultrasonic sensing have each built incredible legacies in reliability,” said Igor Marinelli, CEO of Tractian. “What’s been missing is the ability to combine both continuously, remotely, and intelligently in one device. By unifying these signals with real-time analytics and usability built in, we’re helping teams move from periodic measurement to real visibility into machine health.

The platform supports on-demand lubrication with real-time feedback, allowing technicians to apply grease while monitoring live decibel trends and immediately confirm improvement. NFC-enabled onsite validation simplifies configuration checks and field verification, reducing friction in lubrication workflows.

Unlike traditional tools that provide isolated readings, this approach correlates ultrasonic, vibration, temperature, and magnetic field (RPM) data within a unified system. The result is clearer context behind each signal and structured documentation of lubrication events over time.

For maintenance teams, the impact is measurable: fewer lubrication-related failures, reduced over-greasing and under-greasing, longer bearing life, and greater confidence that corrective actions have actually restored asset health.

The result is a lubrication program that is no longer reactive or periodic - but continuous, guided, and measurable. For more information, visit www.tractian.com.
